The unspoiled waters of Alphonse and St. François Atolls are home to the most incredible variety of bluewater fish species, translating into a great destination for offshore fishing. The structure and sheer drop-offs are ideal for attracting a variety of pelagic species that can be caught on fly as well as conventional trawling methods, and fish such as Sailfish, Wahoo, Dogtooth Tuna, Yellowfin Tuna and Dorado can be challenged on any given day. Anglers can choose to either spend a half or full day targeting some of the hard-fighting fish on offer.

Although Alphonse practices a strict “No Conventional/Spin Fishing” on or close to the islands, flats and reef to preserve the resident species that use the shallow reef as an access point onto the flats and surrounding areas, we do rely on fresh fish for our guests and therefore offer bluewater fishing trips to fill this quota. The bluewater fishing in Seychelles is incredible.

We are committed to protecting the unique fauna and flora of the area with ongoing research, rehabilitation and monitoring programs, focusing especially on nesting sea turtles, giant tortoises, sensitive marine habitats and forest rehabilitation. Fishing is done on a strict catch-and-release basis, with environmental fishing practices consistently practiced.

A Unique Location

Alphonse Island is an incredibly remote and secluded paradise to enjoy your fishing holiday! There is no malaria in the Seychelles and no vaccines are required when visiting, although some travellers elect to protect themselves against hepatitis A with an immunoglobulin injection (short-­term protection) or the longer lasting vaccine. Alphonse Island has no cyclones and is considered sheltered from extreme weather with predictable weather conditions, no poisonous snakes or spiders, no dangerous animals and no cars.

With only one intimate lodge on the entire atoll, you will experience a great sense of space, both indoors and out, with ocean views from your patio or deck and unblemished beaches just a few paces away.

Our fishing equipment is the highest quality available on the market, and we offer a huge range of equipment to satisfy all levels of anglers and to cover a variety of fishing techniques.

Alphonse’s full time guides are all professionals and have a very comprehensive knowledge of the areas in which they operate. They are all fluent in English and some speak French and Creole. Guiding takes place on a rotational basis allowing anglers to experience all the different characters within the guide team. All the guides carry waterproof VHF radios and are in constant communication with each other as well as the base on Alphonse. They are all qualified skippers and their boat handling skills are impeccable.
